Love Languages
Love Languages
Five preferred channels for expressing and receiving affection.
Definition
Chapman's Love Languages framework identifies five primary modes: Words of Affirmation, Acts of Service, Receiving Gifts, Quality Time, and Physical Touch. While the underlying validity literature is mixed, expressed-vs-received mismatch is a strong, intuitive predictor of perceived neglect.
Example
A Words partner paired with an Acts partner often each feel under-loved unless the asymmetry is named.
How it's measured
- •Chapman 5LL inventory
- •Self-report ranking
How EQIQs uses it
